What
do I wear during a BodyTalk session?
Although there is no specific dress required for a session,
it is important that you are comfortable. Wear loose fitting
cotton (or any other natural material) clothing if possible,
remove jewelry, belt buckles and other electronic devices
from your body. Our treatment rooms are completely private
so you may bring a change of clothing if necessary.
What do I need to do during a BodyTalk Session?
Nothing! You can just relax back onto our comfortable
massage tables, and let your practitioner ‘talk’
to your body using a technique similar to muscle testing.
Your practitioner may ask you to touch different energetic
points on your body while he/she gently taps over your
brain and heart complex to activate and store the changes
being made.
What can I expect to feel during a BodyTalk session?
Commonly, clients express a sense of peacefulness and
relaxation, a decreased stress level, and some alleviation
of symptoms immediately following a session. The more
BodyTalk treatments you receive, the more sensitive you
will be become to improvements in your overall health
and well-being.
What is BodyTalk able to address?
Because BodyTalk works with your body’s innate wisdom
(natural ability to heal), there is no symptom, disease
or issue that BodyTalk is not able to address. Practitioners
of BodyTalk are skilled in identifying where compromised
lines of communication are in the body and will assist
the body in achieving a healthy state of balance and health.
This will help you to reveal your true self – a
calm, peaceful and healthy being. Clients of BodyTalk
have shown improvement in numerous areas. A few examples
are: arthritis, anxiety, depression, sports injuries,
digestive disorders, back pain, headaches/migraines, chronic
fatigue, fibromyalgia, learning disorders, stress, phobias,
infections, viruses, parasites, vaccinations, infertility,
menstrual problems.
Do I need to fill out any paper work prior to
my session?
A few minutes before your first appointment you will be
asked to fill out a comprehensive and confidential medical
history form which will allow the practitioner to find
out why you are there and what you would like to explore
during the treatment. There is nothing that BodyTalk can
not address.
Is receiving a BodyTalk session similar to a
massage?
Although clients will often report similar benefits from
a BodyTalk session in terms of relaxation, etc. the contact
is less invasive than receiving a massage. Both you and
the practitioner will be contacting different points of
the body to enhance the energy flow and aid in reestablishing
communication in those areas. There will also be light
tapping over the cortices of the brain to activate healing,
and over the sternum to lock those changes into place.
Because BodyTalk is a mix of many eastern and western
medical approaches, sometimes physical mobilization of
tissue will be necessary. If at any time you are uncomfortable
with any of the contact, please inform the practitioner
immediately.
How will I know if BodyTalk is working for me?
This will be revealed to you over time. BodyTalk continues
to work even after the session ends since your innate
wisdom is healing you from the inside out. Energetic shifts
throughout the body mean that your system has to rewire
to the new changes. The brain now recognizes the new state
of health but is still wired to work as it did previously.
Therefore, over the next few days, weeks or months you
will notice improvements in your physical, mental, and
spiritual self as your brain rewires – this is commonly
known as neuroplasticity.
What is the benefit to receiving regular BodyTalk
sessions?
As we all know, the stresses from day-to-day life can
compromise our body and mind’s ability to stay in
balance. Because BodyTalk is preventative in nature, many
of our clients choose to come in regularly (once/month
or so) for general maintenance visits once their immediate
symptoms have been alleviated. The more BodyTalk treatments
you receive, the more sensitive you will become to recognizing
subtle improvements that are taking place. Over time the
accumulative effect of these subtle improvements can mean
profound transformations in your overall health and well-being
– at levels of body, mind and spirit.

Who can benefit from
CranioSacral Therapy?
Because CranioSacral Therapy is so effective as a preventative
health measure, almost anyone can benefit from a session.
For more pressing concerns, CST has proven especially
effective on puzzling cases that have not responded
well to other approaches. It’s particularly helpful
to those with head, neck or back injuries resulting
from an accident. The extremely light touch also makes
CST a safe approach for children and infants who have
experienced early stress, including but not limited
to birth trauma. By releasing restrictions around the
central nervous system early, you may help prevent future
difficulties such as learning disabilities or hyperactivity.
Are there any conditions that shouldn’t be addressed
with CranioSacral Therapy?
There are a few situations in which CST is not recommended.
They include any condition in which slight variations
in intracranial pressure would cause instability, such
as acute aneurysm, recent skull fracture, and cerebral
hemorrhage or other severe bleeding disorder. If you
have any questions about whether these situations apply
to you, seek the advice of your physician before receiving
a CST session.
Can I combine sessions of BodyTalk with CranioSacral
Therapy, Reiki or Massage at The BodyTalk Centre?
Yes. In fact, many of our clients and practitioners
report greatly improved results during and after their
massage and CranioSacral Therapy sessions when they
are combined with BodyTalk or Reiki. Since at The BodyTalk
Centre we have practitioners who are trained in all
of these modalities you can experience a wealth of healing
all in one place. You are more than welcome to book
a session for BodyTalk followed by or before a Massage,
Reiki or CranioSacral Therapy session if you wish to
do so.
Why are Crystals sometimes used for a Reiki
Session?
Reiki Crystal therapy involves the use of precious and
semi-precious stones. The stones are believed to store
positive energy and they act as a conduit for healing
from the practitioner to the recipient. They also believed
to generate a healing vibration that acts upon the body.
In some cases the stone is placed on the body where
treatment is focused, in others it may be positioned
on the appropriate acupuncture point.
